Spring + Summer Trends 2015: Gingham

May 29, 2015

Are you wearing this seasons 2015 Spring and Summer Trends?

To help you keep you on track I’ve rounded up some trends I’ve noticed and loved!

Today is all about…

GINGHAM . GINGHAM . GINGHAM . GINGHAM . GINGHAM . GINGHAM . GINGHAM . GINGHAM . GINGHAM .

Nothing says the sunny season like a picnic and some gingham! Gingham seems to be everywhere on the runway and I am sure happy about that because I can’t resist a good gingham!

Modern Colorist Does Gingham…Modern-Colorist-Gingham-DressOne of my favorite dresses I own is this 1960’s blue gingham dress… a comfortable yet complimentary fit with a print that is great for a sunny day!Modern-Colorist-Gingham-DressModern-Colorist-Gingham-DressBlue and red… what a combo! So I slipped on my red Forever21 straw sandals which matched the vibe perfectly!

I love mixing different patterns together. The trick I used with this one is keeping the bag more of a neutral as to not distract from the dress but still has a little pop of color. So my small leather tribal bag did the trick!Modern-Colorist-Gingham-DressThis blue gingham was screaming “BRIGHT RED LIPSTICK”, so of course I complied.Modern Colorist - Gingham DressModern Colorist - Gingham DressModern Colorist - Gingham DressI’m off to enjoy the sun! Modern Colorist - Gingham DressKeep on trending!

Holidays Motivational Monday

Motivational Monday: Memorial Day

May 25, 2015

Modern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayEvery year, the last Monday in May, we have a day that we remember the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.

The day was first to be known as Decoration Day, where after the American Civil War in 1868, the Grand Army of the Republic (an organization of Union veterans) established it as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers.Modern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayModern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayThe day merged with Union and Confederate holiday traditions to extend to honor all Americans who died while in the military service. We now know it as Memorial Day.Modern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayModern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayModern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayI found this old hand-painted sign back when I was living in Utah. It was under a pile of old things left behind in an old garage of one of the houses I lived it. I was working at a flower store at the time and I loved the hand lettering and colors of the sign. I never looked into the holiday that was on the sign. I thought it maybe was just an old Utah holiday not celebrated anymore. I never knew it was the original name for Memorial Day. The sign has followed me from then on, each house I have moved to. Modern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration Day Modern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayModern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayMy dress is a vintage floral daisy dress I found at the local thrift store when I was still living in Utah. I miss the thrifts stores here. I could find gems like this everyday.Modern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayModern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayModern Colorist Memorial Day Decoration DayIn honor of the fallen men and women that served in the Armed Services.
